An Article from the North Fork Patch
Brothers Greg and Steve Ammirati are gearing up to open their new cafe Ammirati’s on Love Lane bright and early Monday morning.
“We’ll be here by 5 a.m., maybe earlier,” Greg Ammirati said. “We’re just looking forward to being open.”
The brothers starting leasing the space that once housed LLL Deli on Love Lane and purchased LLL’s food truck in late 2013. Since January, the truck has been making the rounds on LLL’s former route as the pair slowly renovated the storefront into a modern space with a state-of-the-art kitchen and 16-seat restaurant.
The location is somewhat of a homecoming for the brothers whose parents used to own Ammirati’s Cupboard — now the Iron Skillet — just down the street. Growing up, the Ammiratis natives worked in their family’s restaurant as well as the former Love Lane Market. The two have worked together in the food service business ever since.
“We grew up in the industry and we swore it off at first, but you know what they say, ‘if it is in your blood, it is in your blood,” Greg Ammirati said. “Once we decided to do this, our goal was to get back to Love Lane. We know everyone on the street and we’re looking forward to working with them.”
Ammirati’s on Love Lane will open at 5 a.m. on Monday serving breakfast items such as egg sandwiches and omelets. They will also be open for lunch with offerings including sandwiches and homemade lobster salad. There will also be a full salad bar and healthy menu items, like quinoa, to choose from.
Private catering will be available as well.
Closing time is yet to be determined, Greg said.
“It depends on our customers,” he said. “If they are here we will stay open. We’re playing it by ear.”
